This is a list of countries by oil production. The top 10 countries which are listed here are accounted for over than 64% of the world’s oil production.
1. Russia – 10.9 million oil barrels/day – which make for 13.28% of the world’s oil production.
2. Saudi Arabia – 9.9 million oil barrels/day – which are 12.65% of the total number of oil barrels produced in the world per day.
3. United States – 8.45 million oil barrels/day – which are 9.97% of the world’s daily oil production. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) the United States is likely to become the world’s largest oil producing country sometime between 2017 and 2020, overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia.
4. Iran – 4.23 million oil barrels/day – 4.77% of the total daily oil production.
5. China – 4.073 million oil barrels/ day – 4.56%
6. Canada 3.59 million oil barrels/ day – 3.90%
7. Iraq 3.4 million oil barrels / day – 3.75%
8. United Arab Emirates – 3.09 million oil barrels/ day – The seven emirates that form the UAE are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. Despite their small size, these 7 emirates combined are responsible for producing 3.32% of the total daily production of oil in the world.
9. Venezuela – 3.02 million oil barrels/day – This South American country is responsible for 4.74% of the world’s oil production.
10. Mexico – 2.93 million oil barrels/ day – 3.56%
